The Sutton Place Hotel brand slid in to Revelstoke Mountain Resort this winter. The hotel, originally christened the Nelsen Lodge, now reflects the luxury standards of the sister hotels from the Sutton Place brand and its new name.

The Revelstoke Sutton Place Hotel, which is located at the base of the Revelation Gondola, is unique in design. It matches the elegance of its sister hotels in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, and Chicago, but its modern mountain architecture captures local ski history. The entryway is fashioned after the famous ski jump that Revelstoke’s Nels Nelsen used to catapult himself to five-time Canadian champion and world record holder for five years in the late 1920s.

The hotel has been constructed in segments over the past several years, with its third building opening this winter. The newest addition includes two outdoor hot tubs and a large heated year-round outdoor pool.

The Sutton Place features studio suites and one-, two-, or three-bedroom condominiums. Rooms come with the types of amenities you’d expect from the Sutton Place brand: concierge services, wireless Internet, flat-screened televisions, iPod docking stations, luxury bedding and thick towels, robes, large bathrooms, soaker tubs, and a gas fireplace. Choices of rooms overlook the Monashee Mountains, the gondola, village, and the beginner hill.

Designers of the Sutton Place clearly had skiers and snowboarders in mind. With more than just a rubber mat for holding snow-covered boots, each condo has a large room for drying out wet gear. A lineup of wall hooks allows for hanging wet outer clothing to dry, and a washer-dryer stack aids in faster drying.

Ski storage lockers are just a few steps from the gondola, and underground heated parking keeps the car from getting buried in the voluminous snow that falls at Revelstoke. Skier services such as the Revelstoke Outdoor Center, retail, the rental shop, the kids center, and restaurants fill the gondola level of the hotel.
