Squaw Valley USA, Dynafit and Alpenglow Sports come together to put on California’s first ever European-inspired Nacktspektakel ski touring event on Feb. 4 at Squaw.

Nacktspektakel (pronounced knocked-shpeck-tockle) is German for social ski tour. It’s a traditional European ski event meant to bring people together through the sport of ski touring.

Ski tourers are welcome to ascend up to Squaw Valley’s world-renown High Camp where they will enjoy food, drink and socializing. This is a fantastic event to meet new like-minded friends. The group then descends down the mountain under the stars and moonlight.

Participants are asked to come prepared with complete uphill gear, skis, skins, boots, poles and most importantly, a headlamp. They are encouraged to bring warm clothes and perhaps a change of clothes for dinner and drinks. Beacons, shovels and probes are not required but recommended.

Tickets are $40 per person (cash only) and can be purchased at Alpenglow Sports in Tahoe City, Calif.

Alpenglow Sports will offer free rentals for the evening, and they must be picked up the afternoon before the event. They are located at 415 North Lake Boulevard in Sunnyside-Tahoe City, Calif.
