Winter has settled in for good in northern New Mexico and Red River Ski Area hopes its visitors will do likewise.
To entice skiers and snowboarders who make the trip to stay longer, the resort and local lodgers have cut a deal: Check in on Sunday or Monday at one of 20 lodging partners in Red River and plan to stay at least four nights, and you get the fourth night free.
The same deal works on the slopes: Purchase a three-day lift ticket, equipment rental or ski/snowboard lesson and the fourth day comes at no cost. The only hitch is that guests have to be registered at a participating hotel, motel, condo or lodge and show a voucher from that establishment when signing up for the discount.
The fourth-day-free offer doesn’t apply March 10-17, which is school vacation week in some of the surrounding states. Some lodges may have other blackout dates.
To add some spice to the promotion, Red River resort and lodgers will let children age 10 or under ski and stay free for each parent that pays for at least three days at a participating lodge. Limit is one child per parent, and a voucher from the lodge is required. Same blackout dates of March 10-17 apply.
