The loud whirring of snowmobiles can be heard at the top of Rabbit Ears Pass, as you drive into the town of Steamboat. Snowmobiling is a popular activity in the Steamboat area, for locals and tourists.
Steamboat and High Mountain Snowmobile Tours offers a day of family fun with snowmobile and guided tours available. Nicole Curd with the company says a lot of people see it on TV and want to try it. “Snowmobiling is so much fun and a great family activity and great bonding. It’s a way to let loose and experience the snow and the atmosphere and our lifestyle in a different way.”

Rides vary with two-hour tours four times a day. A four-hour lunch tour is offered daily as well as a two-hour sunset dinner tour. Dinner is at a cabin high up on Rabbit Ears Pass and catered by Steamboat Meat & Seafood Company. Curd says the snowmobile guides cook the steaks and other main courses while the side dishes are catered.
