Adapative Alpine Nationals at Waterville Valley This Week

This week the 2012 US Adaptive Alpine National Championships are taking the slopes of Waterville Valley Resort by storm.

This prestigious event showcases the most talented disabled athletes from the United States, Canada and other countries as they compete for the slalom and giant slalom national titles.

“We are so pleased to be returning to Waterville Valley, a resort that has not only hosted this national championship previously, but has also hosted many Alpine World Cup events over the years,” said United States Olympic Committee Event Director Matt Cramer.

These competitors crush stereotypes about disabled meaning any less abled. If you live in the Northeast and have never had the opportunity to witness adaptive racers compete, take advantage of this National events' proximity and come check it out. They seriously rip.

The competition schedule is as follows:

- Tuesday, Jan 10: NORAM Giant Slalom
- Wednesday, Jan 11: Giant Slalom National Championships
- Thursday Jan. 12: Slalom NORAM
- Friday Jan. 13: National Championship Slalom

Bob Fries, President of Waterville Valley Ski Resort, expressed the resort’s appreciation to USOC for choosing Waterville Valley. He said, “We are so excited about the resort returning to the National and International stage for hosting elite level skiing events. This Adaptive Alpine national Championships will truly be an exciting event to have at Waterville Valley.”
