Just as the daylight is getting longer in Alaska, ski resorts are rolling out the special packages for learning to ski or ride in January. Alyeska Resort and Eaglecrest Ski Area are offering several beginner skiing or riding lesson options as part of the national Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month.

Alyeska Resort has knocked about $110 off their regular lesson package rate for the month of January. Beginners can buy a package to start skiing or riding for $99 per person.

The package includes three group lessons, three days of lower mountain lift tickets, and three days of rental equipment. The lower mountain lift ticket allows for riding the magic carpets, the Bear Cub Quad and Chair 7.

Participants must be at least five years old to take the ski lessons in this program or at least eight years old to take the snowboard lessons in this program. Lessons are offered at 10:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. All three lessons must be completed by Jan. 31.

You can buy the beginner ski or snowboard packages in person at the Mountain Learning Center Desk in the Daylodge or call 907-754-2280. Find more information here.
