In case you haven't been paying attention to the world of action sports lately, there's this company called Red Bull. They're kind of a big deal. In fact, their logo is on a banner, giant inflatable starting gate or plastered on the chopper shooting ariel pictures at nearly every major action sports venue and event these days. And if one thing can be learned from their roster of sponsored events, movies or team athletes, it's that they know how to have a good time.

The Red Bull Butter Cup is a contest series that showcases creativity in technical flatland trickery. Born in the northeast in 2009 and bred for the country in 2011, it's all about going back to the basics of what made us all fall in love with shredding in the first place—fun.

For 2012, Red Bull Butter Cup is churning up a whole new flowy set up for your buttering pleasure. You'll recognize some familiar features, but will see them in a whole new light, as each resort puts their own spin on the set up. Get ready to spread it on even thicker than ever before.

Style and creativity is the name of the game and the competition is hot, so the cream will rise to the top. The jam session format keeps the action flowing while riders battle in Pro and Am divisions for cash and fresh gear. Only trick sequences that include buttering will count so hit the snow and start polishing your skills.
