Where to Ring in the New Year in South Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe will forever be a popular destination during the Holidays, and New Year’s Eve is no exception. The biggest parties around will undoubtedly be in South Lake Tahoe. Thousands upon thousands of people will flock to the streets of Stateline, where the police block off the road in front of the casinos. Several of the resorts will also be hosting activities, shows, fireworks and events for guests of all ages to help guests ring in the New Year.

Heavenly Lake Tahoe has put together possibly the most family friendly evening of events on New Year’s Eve. They will be having a professional ice skating show and an ice sculpting performance, which will be loaded with energy, light effects, music and crowd interaction. After riding, guests can join the “Unbuckled” après parties at the new mid-mountain Tamarack Lodge. There will be a concert between 6:30 p.m and 9:00 p.m in the village. A heavily decorated gondola, which will signify the ball dropping at the east coast New Year, 9 p.m, where they will be a firework display above the parking garage at the bottom of the Heavenly Gondola. 

Sierra-at-Tahoe has partnered with Mont Bleu Resort Casino and Spa to offer stay-and-ski packages, as well as a dusk ‘til dawn New Year’s Eve pool party at Onsen Spa. Enjoy the sounds of world-renown DJs and sights of silk aerialists and more than $50,000 in lights alone. Vex Night Club in Harrah’s Casino will also have DJs spinning, dancers and aerialists. 

Kirkwood Mountain Resort will also be hosting a firework show and torchlight parade. Guests can even reserve a seat on the resort’s customized snowcat and enjoy a champagne toast to the New Year on the mountaintop after dinner at the Wall Bar. Parties will continue at Bubs and The Wall. The resort is also sponsoring the Snow Globe Music Festival, which is taking place at the Lake Tahoe Community College from December 29-31. The festival will showcase top acts such as Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, The Glitch Mob, Dilated People and Thievery Corporation, to name a few.
