No matter what level of skill a skier has, Deer Valley Resort believes that it can always be taken to a higher ground.

With that conviction in mind, the resort is offering specialty instruction programs that are custom-fit for every skill level. The program has concentrated, multi-day classes for teenagers and adults, and regularly scheduled, focused instruction for kids. Advanced reservations are required for all specialty camps.

The seventh season of the Mahre Training Center Ski Camps, hosted by Olympic champions Steve and Phil Mahre, offers three- and five-day camps for all abilities. Divided into classes of five to seven skiers ages 12 and older, instructors from the Deer Valley Ski School teach for six hours each day to work on an individual’s progress.

The five-day camp on Feb. 5-9, 2012, costs $1,255. The two three-day camps on Jan. 6-8 and Feb. 10-12 cost $820. Each camp includes daily lift tickets, a chance to ski with the Mahre brothers, and evening sessions with videos and lecture. For information, click here.

For adults only, Deer Valley’s specialty clinics divide up by gender, and feature stance, balance and alignment analysis, video analysis, new equipment demos – plus hours on the slopes with Deer Valley ski instructors.

The mens-only program runs all day on five consecutive Thursdays Jan. 12, 19 and 26, and Feb. 2 and 9, a mens’ weekend Jan. 27-29. The womens’ series runs on Wednesdays, Jan. 11 to Feb. 8, and the weekend intensive will also be held on Jan. 27-29.

Both weekday series cost of $705, and the weekend $550. Neither price includes lift tickets.

While the adults are getting a tune-up, their children can enroll in the Deer Valley Ski School for several specialty programs of their own. The pre-school program (ages 3-5) include half-day instruction twice a week in January and February. Children ages 3-14 can get instruction on Friday afternoons, or full days on Saturdays and Sundays throughout January and February.
