Crystal Mountain, one of the Heartland's top family resorts, is getting ready to celebrate the holidays with lots of activities and holiday lodging specials.

If you stay three nights over Christmas, you get a fourth night free or spend four nights through New Year’s Day and receive a fifth night free.

The holiday period gets started Saturday, Dec. 17 with a tree lighting parade featuring Santa from 5-6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24 Santa and the SnowMonsters will compete for the best time on the NASTAR Race Course. An elaborate buffet is being served both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Ski and Snowboard Demo Day takes place Friday, Dec. 30. Try the latest equipment free.  Just look for the slopeside tents.

New Year’s Eve will be celebrated with a variety of activities:

A Luau Party for adults and Under-The-Sea, a family event geared for 12 and under, both take place in the Crystal Center. The Luau, available 7 p.m -1 a.m, offers food, music and libations, including a midnight toast and excellent views of the fireworks. The cost is $50 per person. The cost for Under-The-Sea, which takes place 4-8 p.m, is $15 per child. Parents are required to be present at this function.

A Pool & PJ Party (ages 8 and up) takes place from 7:30 p.m -12:30 a.m. The evening includes fun activities and snacks.The cost is $39 per child and reservations are required. A Pajama Party for the little ones (8 and under) is also taking place at the same time. Sleeping pads and cribs are provided. The cost is $49 per child. Parents are not required to be present at these functions. A chaperoned teen DJ dance party takes place from 9-12 p.m in the Crystal Center. The cost is $10 per teen.

The Vista Party, for ages 21+, takes place in The Lounge on the third floor, and you can enjoy great views of the Torchlight Parade at 11:45 p.m and fireworks over the mountain immediately following. The Blue Dirt Band will be providing live entertainment. A $15 cover charge applies.

Crystal offers 45 slopes with 27 lit for night skiing seven days a week, nine lifts including a high-speed quad and carpet tows for beginners, two terrain parks, and more than 40 kilometers of groomed cross-country trails with three lit for night skiing. There's something for all family members.
