Located along the north shore of Lake Superior, North America's fresh water sea, winter comes early and stays late this far north. You can normally always count on good conditions at Lutsen Mountains.  They guarantee 25 runs open by early December, which is the equivalent of nearly 10 miles of trails. When they are fully open there are over 70 runs to choose from off of four mountain peaks.
