Seeing nearly $3 million in losses so far this season, businesses including ski areas, winter-related retailers, restaurants and hotels are asking the state to request an economic injury declaration from the U.S. Small Business Administration. If the request is granted, the affected businesses would be able to apply for low-interest loans. One ski area, Labrador Mountain near Syracuse, figures it has lost $400,000 in business so far this season because of unseasonably mild weather. The weather is affecting the skiing and snowboard business in New York, New Jersey and most of New England.
