Kirkwood Mountain Resort announced their 2011/2012 season will officially kick off on Friday, Nov. 25, which will be the start of the first of two Preview Weekends. They plan to open Nov. 25-27 and Dec. 2-4.
The resort will offer limited terrain, rentals, and food and beverage options during these weekends. They plan to close during the mid-week to focus on mountain preparations, snow making and readying more terrain. Operations will continue seven days a week beginning Friday, Dec. 9, depending on snowfall.
The lower mountain will be open with Chair #5, Solitude and Race Course open for skiing and riding. They are hoping to open Lower Zachary at some point throughout the weekend, weather and snow permitting. During the second Preview Weekend they plan to open Chair 11, The Reut, which will access Buckboard.
Kirkwood will be honoring all current 2011/2012 winter Season Passes (both 5Woods & 6Woods), as well as any valid 2011/2012 seasons pass from any other resort during both Preview Weekends. Tickets will be offered at a reduced rate of $29 for adults non-pass holders. Reduced tickets will also be offered for children, youth and seniors.
“The Preview Weekends are a great opportunity to come out and get a first taste of winter, and also to experience all of the exciting enhancements that have taken place through the Fall here at Kirkwood,"CEO Dave Likins said. "[There is] a remodeled Mountain Club with an enhanced Ticket Office, Guest Service area and Rental/Repair shop and an exciting new menu at Monte Wolfe’s."
Kirkwood is hoping to commence skiing and riding seven days a week and open Chair 6 and top to bottom runs as the snow permits. For more information, click here.
