Thanks to the recent storm and the largest snowmaking system on the west coast, Heavenly Mountain Resort will be starting the season off right with a deep snowpack and some of the best conditions they’ve ever had on opening day. There will be 24 acres of skiable terrain accessed by the Gondola and Tamarack Express Chairlift.

More snow is expected on Friday according  to a Weather Statement issued by The National Weather Service:

THE COLD FRONT WILL QUICKLY DROP SNOW LEVELS TO ALL VALLEY FLOORS AS IT PASSES FRIDAY. SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED IN THE SIERRA... WITH MORE THAN HALF A FOOT NEAR THE CREST NORTH OF EBBETTS PASS.

Powder on Opening Day again this year? Let's hope so. With the expected snowfall and continued snowmaking, Heavenly will continue to work hard to open more terrain.

Weekend hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a full terrain park on Ante Up, which will have two jumps and a number of rails and boxes. Sightseeing and on-mountain dining at Tamarack Lodge will also be open. All mountain access will be through the Heavenly Village Gondola.

La Niña will hopefully bring many more days like this. Photo Courtesy of Heavenly Mountain Resort.

Heavenly will also debut Vail Resorts’ updated ski and snowboard application, EpicMix, which will allow skiers and riders to have both portrait and actions shots taken by the Company’s professional photographers. The images are automatically sent to the guest's EpicMix account when the photographer scans the guest’s RF-enabled lift ticket or season pass. The low-resolution photo is free for sharing on Facebook and Twitter and a high-resolution photo can be purchased for $19.99.
