Thanksgiving is the traditional opening day for many upper Midwest ski resorts, but terrain is often limited this time of year.

Boyne Mountain Resort offers plenty of options to fill your outdoor needs and attractive family lodging packages through the holidays.

Boyne is offering a Waterpark Package for a family of four that starts at $173 per night and includes a night's lodging in the Clock Tower Lodge, unlimited waterpark access to Avalanche Bay and four complimentary tokens to the arcade. Lift tickets, which will be at an early-season discounted rate, can be purchased separately. Zipline Adventures will also be available, and Everett's will be serving a Thanksgiving buffet. Follow this link for package information.

To help assure an early opening, Boyne Mountain added 20 more Boyne Low E snowguns to its arsenal over the summer. The Low E guns maximize snow output at marginal temperatures, especially important around Thanksgiving. A half-million dollars has been spent extensively renovating the old Swiss-Austrian themed Clock Tower Lodge giving it a facelift.

The Mountain is moving all its terrain park features this season from North Boyne and expanding the Meadows Park into the largest park at the resort. Additional lighting has been added as well as new features. The Low E snowguns will be used to help open the park as early as possible in the season.
