For years, Okemo Mountain has operated under the belief that if the conditions don't meet your expectations, you shouldn't waste your money. To deliver on this philosophy, the resort has allowed skiers and riders to ski for free during the first hour of lift operations. If you approve of the surface, grab a pass and hit the chairs 'til dusk. No good? Pack it up and hold off until the weather changes, which in New England could mean a matter of mintues.
As the weather can be fickle and so can our schedules, Okemo has improved their "First-Hour-Free" for 2011/2012 to help guests get the benefit of "try-before-you-buy" no matter what time they make it to the mountain. The new "Take 60" program gives visitors the entire first hour after purchasing their lift ticket to test the conditions and make the call. If the snow's not cutting it, head over to Resort Services and get a return-visit coupon good for another day. Now that's dedication to customer satisfaction.
Okemo is anticipated to open for the 2011/2012 season on Nov. 19.
Okemo offers the most vertical drop in southern Vermont and many four-season attractions including Vermont's first mountain coaster, The Timber Ripper.
