When Shaun White nailed a Double McTwist 1260 last year, you may have thought to yourself, “Dude’s crazy.” Or you may have thought, “I want to do that.” If you thought the latter, tie your skull-patterned handkerchief around your face and sign up for a session at Woodward at Copper, a Cirque de Soleil for the new-school set at the base of Copper Mountain.

Between the indoor flybed trampolines, harnesses, 43-degree slopes, simulated cliff drops, spring-loaded floors and landing pits filled with 23,000 foam cubes, there’s enough paraphernalia to get you airborne—and back down—safely. In fact, both White and Gretchen Bleiler have trained here—along with kids as young as eight and blue-hairs as old as 70.

You progress from somersaults on a mat (with your socks on) to backflips off simulated Snowflex ramps (with your skis or board on), then head outside, where Woodward has set up enormous airbags for on-snow practice. Just want a preview? Sign up for a two-hour “One Hit Wonder” class, then decide if you still want to step it up from mute grab to flying squirrel.
