Lutsen Mountains, along Lake Superior in Minnesota's Arrowhead, plans to open for the season Saturday, Nov. 19.
The Heartland's largest snow sports resort is offering an Opening Weekend Lift & Lodging Package from $59 per person, based on quad occupancy. It includes two nights lodging on Friday and Saturday, and a two day lift ticket. A two-night minimum stay is required. Follow this link for lift and lodging packages.
There's still time, through Nov. 15, to purchase Early-Bird, Multi-Day lift tickets that are good throughout the regular season. They can only be purchased online. A two-day adult lift ticket online is $102, which is a $20 savings over the ticket window rate. A three-day ticket is $143, a $40 savings, and a four-day ticket is $164, which saves $80. Children's lift tickets also represent similar savings. Early Bird lift tickets, which can be used from Dec. 16 through April 7, 2012, will no longer be available after Nov. 15. First Tracks 2 for 1 Lift Tickets that allow you to ski two days for the price of one or bring a friend for the day are also available online. They are valid through Dec. 11. A two-day adult lift ticket is $61, three-day is $91.50, and a four-day lift ticket is $122. A child's lift ticket for the same time period is respectively $51, $76.50 and $102. The resort is open Friday through Sunday from opening weekend through the first two weekends of December. They open daily for the season on Dec. 16 and go through April 8, 2012.
Lutsen guarantees they will have 25 runs open by the first weekend in December. If they don't meet the goal, you may cancel your reservation without any obligation.
When it's fully open Lutsen Mountains has close to 100 runs that plunge off four mountain peaks. Arguably, it offers some of the best skiing and riding found around the Great Lakes. Overlooking Lake Superior's north shore, the scenery is spectacular.
