Vail Resorts announced today that their new version of EpicMix will be released in time for tomorrow's opening day at Keystone Resort. The early release will include the ability to have your photo taken by a professional photographer as well as last year's functionality.

Skiers and boarders will also earn the "Keystone Opening Day" pin if they visit the resort tomorrow. The pin is one of 350 pins that can be earned across Vail Resorts' six mountains. Over the course of the season Vail Resorts will release further updates including the ability for people to take their own photos and upload them to their dashboard and share them across Facebook and other social networking sites.

“The feedback we have received about the second generation of EpicMix and how we will incorporate photos into the experience has been overwhelming and we knew it was critical to get as much functionality as possible launched for the start of the ski season,” said Rob Katz, Vail Resorts chairman and chief executive officer. "EpicMix utilizes state-of-the-art technology to give our guests a seamless and easy way to save their special moments with friends and families but does so without in any way interfering with their time on the mountain."

We caught up with Katz in September when EpicMix photo was first announced. His interview including insight into future rollouts this year can be found here.
