Idaho’s Brundage Mountain celebrates its 50th anniversary this month. To honor the occasion, the ski area will launch special deals that go on sale Nov. 4 and will open this winter with improvements.

Brundage has introduced the Best of Brundage Anniversary Sale. Most of the special deals are offered for two weeks only. Two packages—the Best of Brundage and the Legacy of Learning—go on sale Nov. 4 and are available only to the first 50 purchasers of each. Each of the packages cost $489—the same price as an adult season pass. The sale starts at 9 a.m.

The Best of Brundage package bundles up four items. It includes an unlimited 2011/2012 adult season pass, a full day snowcat backcountry adventure, a two-hour private lesson and a full day high performance rental package. Purchasers of the package also get 10 percent off additional cat-ski trips, high performance rentals and private lessons.

The Legacy of Learning package targets families. It includes an unlimited 2011/2012 adult season pass plus three visits to the Brundage Bears children’s program.

One additional package is available starting Nov. 4. The Friendly and Flexible package includes an unlimited 2011/2012 adult season pass and a 5-Day Select Card, which can be redeemed for one lift ticket per day for up to five days. The package, which costs $489, is on sale for two weeks only.

Brundage also dropped the price on its beginner lesson program, the Learn to Ski Guarantee. Beginners can get unlimited beginner lessons, two days of rentals and two days of lift tickets for $99.

For the anniversary winter, offseason work set about to make improvements to the main lodge. Remodeling of Smoky’s Pub on the second floor expanded the space to accommodate seating for 100 more people. The remodel also enlarged the kitchen, which will allow for a new menu. The lodge reconstruction was designed to improve traffic flow to the restrooms, too.
Brundage purchased two new grooming machines. The PistenBully 400s feature powerful engines for grooming a variety of terrain.

The ski area, which depends on natural snow to open, has scheduled Dec. 9 as a tentative date to start running lifts daily. Weekend operations may commence earlier, conditions permitting.
