Ever wanted to give skiing or snowboarding a try? Now is the time.  Sundown Mountain, located in the high hills above Dubuque, Iowa, is offering first timers the opportunity to try snowsports free with lesson and rental included.  You're never going to get a better offer.

The lesson takes place on Sundown's beginner hill, which has both a chairlift and a conveyor lift so that each person can advance at a pace comfortable to them.  The offer is good Jan. 4-24.  You must be at least nine or older, and reservations are required by calling the number listed below.  Openings are limited so don't wait.

Thousands of Iowans have learned to ski and ride here over the last 40 years.  The beginner area, with its own triple chair, is one of the outstanding teaching arenas mid-America.  It takes center stage right on top of the ski hill.  You can see three states - Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin - from the top of the ski area.

Sundown is hosting its Family Weekend Jan. 9-10.  Children 11 and younger pay half-price for lift passes, rental equipment and lessons when accompanied by an adult with a full-price lift ticket.  Fun activities will include a scavenger hunt, face painting, T-shirt painting and many more fun snow games.  Bring the family and enjoy an entertaining winter environment.  Remember, the Kevin Costner film, A Field of Dreams, was shot just down the road.  This is a "Snowfield of Dreams."
