Snow King opens its alpine slide Memorial Day Weekend.

Snow King Resort wraps up its winter ski and snowboard season March 28, but the resort closes with a bang with the sound of snowmobiles gunning through the air. The 35th Annual World Championships Snow King Hill Climb revs up the action with snowmobiles climbing the ski slopes.

The annual hill climb, March 25-28, draws huge crowds for the event organized by the Jackson Hole Snow Devils. Snowmobiles race up the 1,500-foot slope in a quest for speed among the top racers. Tickets for the event costs $15 per day or $30 for the entire weekend.

Skiers on the lift grab great views of the action, and the top adds a unique vantage point of the race and the crowd below. The finals and the King of the Mountain runs are scheduled March 28-closing day for the ski season.

Snow King closes the slopes for spring, but the lodge and condominiums remain open year round. Those traveling through Jackson Hole in the spring can stay at the resort for rates lower than winter or summer.

Snow King launches its summer season acitivities Memorial Day Weekend. Scenic chairlift rides, the alpine slides, mini golf, the bungee trampoline, horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking are all available on the slopes of the resort. Summer outdoor concerts are also held in the Snow King Amphitheater.
