  You can save a little space by only packing a couple of base layers....just wash them in the sink in warm water, roll them into a towel and wring them out, and hang them over a radiator...they will be ready to go the next day.

  I needed a new jacket for a trip to Tahoe last year so I ordered the item mail order (after checking the same item out in a local store) and gave the delivery address as my hotel room. When i arrived at the hotel my new jacket was already there waiting for me.

  I'll agree with the above, except I usually pack 2 under layers that way I can wash one pair and wear the other at the same time.
  
  Smart about the sink though, never thought about that ;)

  when i go i bring 2 under layers and if you have a fire or somthing when you get home jst hang them out there and then next morning they'll be dry and warm. :)
