  Hi...I have a small, dog (all sizes, all breeds) and family friendly B&B in Sun Valley, and I provide everyone with a "dog tag" that can go on a jacket, water bottle, chain around the neck, dog collar, etc. that has the name of the Inn, the address and phone number, and my cell phone so that if anyone is lost or injured, child, dog or adult, they have a local contact that can be anywhere in a few minutes to help. It is so easy to forget information in an emergency, and it's fun for the kids to have a "dog tag" of their own.

  Some mountains also offer an electronic gadget that lets groups/families track each other on interactive maps set up at various locations all over the mountain (like The Marauder's Map in Harry Potter!) -- I know Steamboat has that, and I'm sure other mountains do too.

  If you and your kids are skiing seperatly, don't forget to check your cell phone often. My son was injured on the mountain, but I never heard my cell phone ring when the ski patrol tried to call. It wasn't until I saw my name on the board at the lift that I knew there was a problem. All very good advice in the article.
