The new magic carpet at Ski Cooper is helping skiers and riders learn that much easier. “It’s working out perfectly. It’s really nice and everybody’s loving it, “says Ski Coopers president and GM, Clint Yant. “I think it’s one of the best improvements we’ve done. It was kind of a pain but it’s the best thing we’ve done in a long time.”
The new magic carpet is 770 feet and can take 77 people up at one time. It replaced the old Printer Boy Platter lift.

The season started off slowly for Ski Cooper. Yant says, “We opened Christmas Eve because we didn’t get any snow. I’ve never opened the mountain with that little snow but it held up.” The numbers over the Christmas holiday were similar to last year. “Plus, there are no lift lines and the snow is getting better."
Yant says the mountain is anxious to open cat skiing on Chicago Ridge. “We went up there today and did another survey so we’re hoping we can open it up next week finally.” Yant says ski patrol has done a lot of avalanche control and packing it down.
