Courchevel, the French resort known for its crowned-head clientèle, has once again become a starlit destination. While it's true that at 1850 metres, the sparkling stars seem a bit closer, but for this Savoyard resort, it's Michelin stars that count.

The restaurant La Table du Kilimandjaro, under the direction of chef Alexandre Ongaro, has just been awarded his first Michelin star. The 32-year-old Alpine native joined the restaurant's team in 2006 and ever since has been striving for excellence. Although his cuisine is very much inspired by Mediterranean influences, local products such as cheese, farm-raised pork, and fish from the Alpine lakes always find an honored place on Ongaro's plate.

The restaurant is not the only establishment to be recognized for the luxurious quality of its services. Six hotels-- l'Amanresorts le Mélézin, l'Annapurna, les Airelles, l'hôtel Cheval Blanc, le Kilimandjaro, and le Lana-have moved up to become five-star accommodation.

Each offers rooms, apartments, suites, and chalets to a demanding clientele seeking the best in piste-side accommodation. L'hôtel Cheval Blanc takes its inspiration from the surrounding natural beauty with the Spa Givenchy des Neiges, voted best hotel spa in Europe. Les Airelles boasts a 550 square metre apartment which includes a private spa as well as a jacuzzi on its 150 square metre terrace.

These are just some examples of the renovations carried out by Courchevel, always working towards the ultimate in quality services.
