Matterhorn Glacier Paradise takes skiers up to 3820 metres

At A Glance

Zermatt's Theodul Glacier (3820m) kicks off its summer ski season June 26.

There are 13 runs (20 kilometres) on the glacier, most of them red and blue, and the pistes are served by seven drag lifts. Advanced skiers can test their ability on the racing tracks and moguls. The Gravity Snowboard Park boasts a superpipe, kicker park, and rail park.

The Theodul Glacier connects the ski areas of Zermatt with Cervinia in Italy and is served by the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, the highest cable car in Europe. Due to its extreme altitude and huge summer snow area, Zermatt often hosts international ski and snowboard teams.

Summer skiing in Zermatt is from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m, June 26 to Nov. 26. Try to get up the mountain as early as possible to avoid the crowds and slushy snow. Summer/Autumn ski passes cost CHF78 per day for adults; CHF72 seniors; CHF66 youth; and CHF39 children.

Skischule Zermatt offers private summer lessons: a three-hour lesson for one or two people is priced from CHF240 (extra charge of CHF30 for each additional person). The ski school office is closed during summer, but you can reach them by calling +41(0)-27-966-24-66.
