Switzerland is famous for its hearty après-ski fondue and picturesque Alpine landscapes. To take advantage of both at once, the Fribourg Public Transportation company operates the aptly named Fondu Train every Friday and Saturday night and midday Saturday and Sunday.

Aboard an electric train dating back to 1922, guests will enjoy a four-hour excursion that includes a train ride from Bulle to Montbovon, in Switzerland's Fribourg region.

The first part of the journey, passengers gather in the Moléjon wagon for an apertif. Guests are then invited to move into the second wagon to prepare and enjoy the traditional Fribourg-style fondue. The culinary trip ends with a typical dessert from the Gruyere region - meringues and double cream. The train returns to Bulle at the end of the journey.

Evening trains depart from Bulle at 6:30 p.m. and return around 10:00 p.m. The afternoon train leaves Bulle at 11:30 a.m. and returns just before 3:30 p.m. The Fondu Train runs weekends until April 25 for this winter and spring season.

Adult return tickets cost CHF43. Children aged 13 to 20 pay CHF39 while children under 13 pay CHF16. The price includes the train travel, the fondue, and dessert.

Guests interested in this experience can book their places up until the day before the departure by calling the Bulle rail station at +41 26 913 05 12.
