Karl Stone of Ski New Hampshire says that the Thanksgiving holiday is traditionally a quiet start to the skiing and riding season in the Granite State, but that at least nine resorts are planning to be open on some terrain before or by that weekend.

"It really comes down to the weather leading up to Thanksgiving," Stone said. "It's kind of a warm-up weekend for areas and skiers and snowboarders alike to get things going heading into another winter."

Areas will begin operating on limited terrain, generally with reduced-price lift tickets, with terrain and prices increasing as the season progresses.
