Barbara Thomke of Smugglers' Notch says, "Smugglers' is pretty low key at Thanksgiving.  We open traditionally on the Friday after the big feast - this year Nov. 27 - and generally the weekend is pretty full with locals who enjoy those first runs of the season. We also frequently host group trips and of course a lot of homeowners arrive for their traditional Thanksgiving with their families.  So it's an exciting time for certain segments, but because terrain is limited we generally don't give marketing a big push until Dec. 11 when we expect to be open full tilt."

The resort will have its indoor pool and hot tubs up and running, as well as the FunZone for kids.

Thanksgiving dinner is available at the Resort's Hearth & Candle restaurants, as well as at numerous restaurants locally. Weather permitting, selected intermediate trails on Sterling Mountain will open Nov. 28 for the weekend, and lift tickets will be available at early season pricing. That's $44 for adults, $34 for youth.

Smuggs also offers family activities such as a nature walk, bingo, a movie, or a mini-golf tourney in the FunZone.

Lodging for the weekend runs $519 plus tax and tips for a family of four in a one-bedroom mountainside condominium, with a Wednesday arrival and Sunday check-out
