Granite Peak, Wisconsin's largest ski hill with a 700-foot vertical drop, plans to open for the season Saturday, Nov. 21, weather permitting. They will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. opening day and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.  They will close during the week and plan to reopen Thanksgiving Day remaining open through the weekend with night skiing on Friday and Saturday nights.

A family of four - two adults, two children 12 and under - can stay and ski three days starting from $376 over Thanksgiving weekend. The Peak doesn't have its own lodging, but they work hand-in-hand with the Wausau CVB and many area hotels and motels package with the ski area.  Click on the link below to access lodging packages.  Thanksgiving dinner at the ski area is just $10.95 per adult, and kids with parents eat free.  The best news is that you can go out and ski to work off the calories after Turkey Day dinner.  What could be better?

A Thanksjibbing Rail Jam takes place Saturday.  The throw down starts at 11:30 a.m.  Hopefully you haven't eaten too much over the weekend. There will be live entertainment in the saloon from 2-10 p.m.

The Peak will be closed Mondays from Nov. 30 - Dec. 13 when they open daily for the rest of the season.  The ski area won't open until 4 p.m.Tuesday through Friday for the first couple of weeks in December.  Normal hours kick in Monday, Dec. 14 through the rest of the season.
