Mt. Robert Overview

Region Wide Comparison

Area Profile

Nelson Ski Club was formed in 1944. The access (or lack of it) makes Mount Robert and the operation of the Club unique. It is run on a volunteer basis with the Club members expected to pitch in on summer maintenance work parties and to generally assist with the duties during the winter. Although Mount Robert is a club field, non-members are always welcome. Access to the field is by way of walking (2 hours) or helicopter (2 minutes). Season opens weekends in early July and runs through late September.

Lodging Profile

The best way to enjoy Mount Robert is to come for the weekend. Comfortable on-field lodges accommodate up to 60. Bookings for Saturday overnight accommodation are essential. Although members have preference, non-members are most welcome and must book in by 8.00pm on Thursday evenings for the upcoming weekend. Space and facilities are limited Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast is pooled.
