With regular snowfalls on its peaks and across its wide open slopes, Mount Dobson offers a fun skiing and snowboarding experience for everyone. It is especially well suited to families, beginners and intermediates, but high above the groomed slopes there’s amazing soft smooth powder to challenge the best skiers and boarders.
Climb to the peak of Mount Dobson for spectacular views over Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki, and across to Mt Cook and Mt Tasman, New Zealand’s highest peaks, before challenging an off-piste ride over untracked snow down to the groomed trails.
Mt. Dobson ski terrain is located high above tree line like many of New Zealand's resorts. The ski field contains wide open groomed runs. Natural half pipes and steeper terrain towards the top of the mountain are excellent playgrounds for the advanced and intermediate skiers and snowboarders.
Conditions at Mt. Dobson are typically varied as the ski field is exposed on the edge of the mountain range. Be sure to check the weather as the resort often closes for lack of visibility, rain, or high winds.
Ski hire and snowboard rentals are available at Mt. Dobson. Ski lessons are also available. Accommodations can be found in Fairlie and Tekapo.
