Windham is much more family oriented than Hunter Mountain. The skiers and broaders (well most of them) at Windham are not as wild as Hunter. Hunter is good if you want to dodge every snot nosed NYC puke that shows up in the caravans of buses that dump people there. Windham is quieter and not as crowded. The terrain is not bad but there are no runs comparable to the back of Hunter. The east mountain is good skiing and Windhan finally put a detachable quad lift to service this area. However, I do not consider Windham open until the east mountain is open. The trails on the east mountain include Why Not, Wing'N It and Wonderfully Wicked. The green trail is Wanderer but it is a waste of time unless you're a beginner. There is a new blue trail that is not yet named. It could be a good warm-up run. The ski school at Windham is also good.
