i live 35 min north of whiteface and i love the mountain. It truley has the most vertical on the east. If you ever get to ski here on a real powder day this resort is better than out west becuase of how steep it is you just float. If you ever get a chance to ski the very difficult slides which are backcountry bowls go for it. they are very dangerous becuase nothing is marked in there. there are over 50 foot cliffs and dangerous ice cliffs. go to slide 3 never 1 or two unless you want to die. I hit the slides up last year first time they haven't been open in like five years. got to ride them with over 3 feet of powder. Hint they make you have a avalanch beacon if you want to get in there early before it gets tracked out. I've been to vails bowls with over 2 feet of pow and whiteface slides are more scary and raw and better than theirs however they arn't as long.
