Windham and Hunter being "better" depends on what you are looking for. If you want amenities, go to Hunter/Windham. If you want pure riding with tree skiing galore, go to Plattekill. Plattekill is home to the trail with the steepest continuous verticle in the Catskills. NOT Windham or Hunter.

Platekill is one of the hidden gems of New York. It is much better, harder mountain than creek in nj. conditions are usually pretty decent minus the typical ice of the east.
