McCauley Mountain is a skier's mountain, very diverse terrain and some of the most challenging runs around for a smaller mountain. It also has enough runs for the beginner and intermediate trails to keep the entire family satisfied. The staff is excellent and the place is well run. It's also one of the best values around.....
great terrain and challenging

It was years ago, but I just thought of this place today. My memory is a happy one. I really liked the scenic aspect of this park. I thought the slopes were challenging & fun for someone at my skill level, intermediate. I really liked seeing the deer in such close proximity to some of the runs. It made it an even more memorable experience. A great place to spend the day!

Can't say enough about the effort of the staff and ski patrol to make this place fun and affordable for everyone!! Just an overall feeling of small ski area caring and GREAT skiing.

This is a great place to go if your looking to ride bumps and woods runs. For skiers and snowboarders looking to hit up a park. Skip this place. The park features even the new ones for last year were small. The jumps horible and the park was only open on weekends. Whoever has been setting it up needs to learn that you cant put 4 features all close together like that do. Park has no flow to it. But everything else there is great
Greats glades and steep runs lots of snow
Short runs, Horiblle Park no night skiing

McCauley is one of the best kept secrets in NY, I ski this mountain often and think it is one of the best mountains in NY. McCauley has 633' of vertical terrain and 23 trails, but has the feel of a big mountain. If you like bumps and glades McCauley has the best; they have bump and glade runs for beginners right up to a true expert, with big drop type runs. McCauley also has great cruiser runs from gentle slopes to steep headwalls. On the lower mountain there are great runs for the beginners who are just getting started, once you have mastered the lower mountain you are ready for the top. In 2010 McCauley added new terrain features for there terrain park, and have made big improvements in the past couple of years. This mountain has terrain for every level of skier in the family, not to mention the best prices around. I have found this to be the best value around for ski mountains. Right now McCauley has some of the best conditions in NY, they have been getting snow almost every day and have been pumping out the snow for a great base. They have also purchased a new groomer and grinder for 2010 creating some of the best groomed trails around. I recommend making the trip, you won't be disappointed going to McCauley Mtn.
Awesome Terrain
No Night Skiing
I have been skiing McCauley for about 10 years. While you can ski down the blue or green runs in a matter of minutes and without a rush, McCauley's true value is skiing the Glades or the Diamond runs of Helmers or Olympic. Forget about lines. The Mountain is a well kept secret. The $8 Friday does not include Holiday weeks, its for the locals. I would not recommend taking a lesson here, t-bars and tow ropes slow down the learning process and going to the top of the mountain as a novice is not recommended. You are better off learing at nearby Snow Ridge or Gore. The snowmaking is limited but the lake effect snow is incredible. I've skiied in a foot of snow at McCauley and the next day drove 45 minutes east to Gore and found nothing buy ice. I never ski an entire day at McCauley because you make too many runs and the difficulty of the runs burn my legs. A half-day Holiday will cost you $30. Well worth it! The best run, enter the Glades of Barkeater and make your way all the way down to the lift, awesome!
Glades, Expert slopes
Only one chair lift
Our ADK tour started in Old Forge @ McCauley Mountain. What a great deal crazy 8's! Yes, on Friday's the all-day lift ticket was $8 and only $6 for a hot wax. We were there from opening to closing and covered just about every run. The black <> 's were challenging. We were able to many runs without long lift lines. Everyone was friendly. Met ski patrol's from around the New York. It's a must do for any level skier.
Great Deals
No Night Skiing
This Big-Little Resort has to be the best kept secret in NY. We went up on 1/23/09 and the snow was great. The grooming was superb. They were making snow on sidewinder, so we couldn't ski that. Which is one of our fav. trails. This mountain has something for everyone. Weather you like a challenge or just want to cruise with your friends. What ever it is Mccualey has it. O and don't forget to bring your camara, the view at the top is breathtaking.
grooming is awesome, super smooth.
there isn't a wide variety of night skiing
