Total debacle since being purchased by Vail Corp. Percentage of open terrain this season was the lowest ever. It appears that the new corporate owners only want to suck all they can out of the mountain and invest nothing in operating or improving it for skiing. Real estate ploy entirely!
is the best challenge within 2 hours of NYC
Vail's purchase has caused a 100% negative result to Hunter. Snowmaking and grooming which were the best in proximity to NYC are now non-existent; as they seem to be more interested in just banking the lift ticket costs and investing NOTHING in the mount

While I had lots of fun, I was in tremendous pain during and after skiing. It wasn’t until after I visited another resort and was given proper instruction & guidance in regards to my rentals, that I realized this place really let me down. I paid a fortune to rent skis, all they did was pick a pair from the shelf after stating my shoe size and had me put them on. No one told me how to put them on properly, how tight/loose to make them, how they are supposed to feel, how to take them off. Employees were chatting while i was struggling to take off my boots, no one offered to show me how. After visiting Okemo, someone measured my foot, and informed me that my rentals at Hunter were an entire size too big causing weight shifts in my feet while skiing, resulting in my extreme pain (which caused a slight meniscus tear). Apparently an extreme no no in the ski world. As a beginner, this needs to change and staff needs to do better. I am lucky that i didnt further injure myself due to the lack of care and education by the Hunter mountain team.

The snow was decent though suffering from a heat wave but I wont hold that against them. My only real issue is the price. I nearly went to another mountain but that was the same price for half the mountain. Meanwhile you are charging nearly the same rates as Zermatt for 18% of the mountain. You have employees doing unnecessary work further wasting money. One person is physically scanning passes when most places use a RFID turnstyle while another employee is holding the chair to steady it. That is on top of having someone sit in the booth for emergency which makes sense. Terrain park was decent, food was overpriced. Staff was cheerful. You're numbered gate for rentals is annoying as well, making me move to multiple stalls is dumb when you could have one person getting me squared away.
It was close with a decent amount of trails.
Owned by Vail jacking up prices Especially for how small the mountian is.

Disappointed, wanted to get a gift card, order it over the phone but charge a fee of $4.95 to do that. Seems wrong. We all know it doesn't cost that to mail a gift card.
My son enjoys going here
Can't order a gift card over phone without a $4.95 charge? !

Skiing and snowboarding here for 40 years. Vail just isn't making the snow that the previous owners did. Sold a ton of season passes and not opening lifts and terrain. Very disappointed.
It is open
Now that it is cold still only making limited snow. Very crowded, 1/2 the mountain open

Horrible parking situation and they are the cheapest people you’ll meet. They don’t groom any trails and the parking lot is a disaster. They didn’t even plow or salt on a holiday weekend. It was laughable how bad this place was

Vail resorts has turned a once thriving community mountain into a living Purgatory, filled with over 1+ hour lift lines, trails that remind me of an overcrowded interstate highway during rush hour, and to exit the parking lot, almost 2 hours due To the fact they only have one major exit. On weekdays it’s a great experience with short lines, but last weekends 1 hour lines for the bunny slopes and almost 1.5 for the summit, one can conclude that Vail knows they need to do something, and yet they don’t every year. I assume as well this isn’t the first season where they had this debacle. They’ve sold a record number of epic passes this year just to have a plethora of people flood the mountains on the weekends.

Parking, Lift Lines, Overcrowded

For those who can ski midweek, the mountain is open with limited lifts and limited trails open. d LIFT that goes to mid station is always closed so either you lower short trails or ski from the top, with only belt parkway for intermediates. Midweek is sometimes packed. Weekends are always packed and more trails are open. The MAJOR problem is that Vail does not cover over crusted/icy trails with fresh snow to give a layer of snow to ski on. YOU need to ski early and plan on leaving early when existing snow is skied/snowboarded off. There are too many people flying down the slopes, coming to close to skiers (forget 6 feet social distancing on slopes!), and trails that are simply not maintained that crap out by 11 am. There hasn't been any snowmaking for over 1 month, and groomers are spreading around icy chunks. When it gets warmer the slopes are slushy, the groomers are out early, and by morning everything is frozen cordouroy that is hard to maneuver. The registration system locks passholders out of weekends and dining indoors. the scanners are annoying pointing scanners that look like guns in you face numerous times. Concerned children are getting accustomed to getting "shot" with scanners looking like guns.
open 7 days a week
conditions not maintained
