Excellent Snow Making, Challenging Terrain
Can be treacherous when the snow turns to ice...
Hunter is a great resort for honing your big mountain skills. It is pretty comparable to anything you'll find throughout the East Coast in terms of challenge. I would avoid Hunter on the weekends and after a thaw and freeze over. Check out the West Side for sustained quad burning expert runs and less crowds than the front side. Hunter is best on a Sunny Day when temps are near or slightly above freezing. It is also a great mountain to ski during a snow storm, but can get quickly skied off the day after a big dump.
