Hunter Mountain prepares you for the real world, if there is such as thing. I learned to ski at hunter, and I found that at most other resorts trails that are seen as intermediate at hunter are sometimes labeled as advanced at other resorts. Hunter is not an easy mountain to dominate and can be a bit disorganized at times, but overall is not a place place to go. An hour and 30 minutes from Jersey City, NJ make it accessible enough to visit a couple of times a season. Obviously there are better places to ski such as Windham. But if you want to learn hunter's the place.
