Quick lifts, good powder
Snow-making creates zero visibility
We went to HV for a ski getaway. I loved the runs - I'm an intermediate skier and it was enough difficulty to challenge me. My boyfriend is an expert skier so it was no challenge for him but he enjoyed himself anyhow. It was the first time I had seen "table campers" and I was amazed by the number of crock pots - wish I had brought mine! HV was certainly very family friendly and that was good to see. There were some adorable tots cruising around on skis.
The drawback for me were the ski guns. Those things blasted out the snow and created places of zero visibility. At the time I'm warmed up and ready to jam down some black runs, the snow-making was in full swing. I had a rough time the first few times down the blacks because I couldn't see where I was going. There were also some super icy patches but they were easy to spot and avoid.
Overall, it was fantastic. The lifts go quickly, there were short lines even around New Year's, and the staff was awesome. I can't wait to go back!
