I was so saddened to find out that Hickory was gone. I made my first turns there and it was the essence of skiing, not sliding on snow. Like its soul mate, Mad River Glen, this was an area for people who understood skiing isnt sliding down a manicured slope. Like a great golf course, Hickory challenged the skier and rewarded those who truly had mastered the art of skiing.If you could ski Hickory, you truly could ski anywhere.
