on the way from westchester ny we stopped in rhinebeck and ate at gigi's. amazing food, incredible service. awesome tavern across the street, witty bartender. horse bitsand spurs embellish the walls. cool shops including a store selling international hand made wood sculptures acoss the street. town is well kept and full of locals. a small movie theater in the saem street. we have been going to gore mountain throught the last three years. we stay in saratoga springs to have nightlife. we've stayed at the holiday inn which has allowed our dogs and most recently at the saratoga hotel.very cheap hotels compared to other ski towns.its a 45 minute drive to gore each morning from saratoga but the view is so amazing you don't notice. there is an excellent italian restaraunt across from the saratoga hotel. gore mountain is excellent. as all mountains the trails get congested with crowds on weekends and holidays. one indoor gondola. the new northwoods lodge on site has nice day care and tune-up services. new bathrooms, great service. food is not great at gore mountain yet maybe they'll add something new soon.we are big on dining experience. i would say ny ski resorts fail at that. but otherwise gore mountain has good variety for everyone it's a 4 hr drive from nyc and 100 times better than hunter, belleyare or platekill so worth the trip if you can't do stowe. it's equivalant to okemo. the good part about okemo is the town is down the hill from the mountain and with gore you must drive to saratoga. okemo doesn't have an indoor gondola. we try them all anyway. variety is the spice of life
