You can ski the old highmount ski area from deer run. Do it only on a powder day, bring your machete and have someone with a car waiting for you on the bottom. Be warned, its gnarly and difficult. Don't do it alone. Better off skiing the trees of Cathedral Glen.

Firm conditions today, all ungroomed slopes on top were closed and with good reason, only fools or crazies would have attempted them. Glades were all closed, they lost quite a bit of cover from the rain yesterday. The groomed stuff was slick and fast but great for carving. Skied the smaller Onteora and Belleayre bumps, a bit firm, but nice lines. Never had more than 1 person or party ahead of me in the lift line.
