New Mexico ski resorts benefit from an abundance of light snow as well as bluebird days thanks to their location in the southern portion of the Rocky Mountains.

Taos Ski Valley prides itself on being a rugged, authentic place for skiers to challenge themselves, thanks in large part to the skiing and snowboarding that can be accessed from 12, 481 foot Kachina Peak. Head thirty minutes to the east and you’ll find Angel Fire Resort, known for an abundance of beginner and intermediate terrain as well as quality terrain parks.

Sandia Peak, located just outside of Albuquerque, is New Mexico’s oldest ski and snowboard resort and is accessed via a 60-person aerial tram that rises over 4,00 vertical feet. Ski Apache, in southeastern New Mexico, is owned by the Mescalero Apache Native America Tribe and is home to the state’s only gondola.
