went to June mountain in January in California. they told us that most of the mountain was on wind hold but they would do their best to open it up, before we purchased the ticket. They did in fact open up to 60% later with great grooming and minimal lines. even the lodge was not totally crowded. great management.

Awesome day! Sunshine, no lines, and 5" of fresh powder on top of the most snow Taos has had in a long time. Everyone who was out on the mountain had a big stupid grin on their face all day long. Lift 4 finally opened around 2 PM and we were still making fresh tracks at 3:30! Lots of blasting all day long still and more snow on the way tonight. It's pretty great here right now!

It was a tough weekend. I support their safety measures and understand the closures. But they were very unorganized at the lifts with little to no communication from staff. I think skiers will understand if the staff explains the situation. Also we were stuck waiting to park for 1 1/2 hour.

For all those complaining, tough. The wind loading created huge avalanche dangers. Lift 4 ends in a debris field from the peak. All the respect to the ski patrol for focusing on safety & closing unknown areas. If you can't see the peak, you can't assess the peak.
