I don't get how supposed expert skiers complain about the lack of challenging terrain here..and who cares about food!!! Real skiiers know it's all about the trail mix and Sheaf Stout any way...I grew up skiing this mountain and the back country from here to Taos..I moved to Crested Butte where my roomate who grew up skiing Santa Fe won the U.S. extremes 4 or 5 years ago.. local NM ripper Dean Cummings ( from Los Alamos/pajarito ) won the World Extreme comp and ripped many a turn as a local at Santa Fe... The old schoolers in the know will tell ya it's all about the back country at Santa fe ..The Nambe Chutes... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTDpNu5LckI back side of Ravens ridge ect...warren miller filmed in the Nambe Chutes...I was there right behind the camara hiking up to Lake peak in 1995..So stop with the complaining about the terrain...all the good lines are closed off for the locals to poach and all the gommers stay in bounds !!! So complaining expert skiiers grow a pair bring your shovels , ropes and beakons and hike to some of the illest lines I have skied from here to Taos to Crested Butte to Blackcomb..just do it smart or you won't be found until the spring !!!
