Come to Ski Apache every Tuesday starting December 15th and run our brush course. What is a brush course? A brush course is a course that hepls you practice your ski or snowboarding turns. Instead of turning around objects, brushes are placed in the snow and your goal is to turn around them. Course is timed, so skill and speed are key. FIRST ANNUAL DUMMY GELUNDE COMPETITION TO BE HELD AT Ski Apache December 19th, 2009. Registration Now Open to the Public and Limited to 30 Total Entries First Place Team Will Be Awarded $1,500 November 13, 2009—In its first year, the Dummy Gelunde Competition will start at Ski Apache on Saturday, December 19, 2009 from 3-5 p.m. Registration opened to the public November 1 and is limited to a field of 30 teams. Dummy Gelunde is a sport of sorts, where teams of one to three people construct snow-riding dummies attached to a pair of skis or a snowboard and launch the handmade contraptions over a giant on-snow jump. Dummies are then judged on distance, air, creativity, takeoff, landing and crowd response. In its first year, a grand prize of $1,500 will be awarded to the first place Dummy Gelunde team. Second place will receive $750 and third place will receive $500, totally an overall cash purse of $2,750. “Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to have fun building a cool looking snow-dummy and launching it down Ski Apache, but it’s also a great chance to win a some money,” explains Justin Rowland, Director of Operations at Ski Apache. The Dummy Gelunde World Championships will be held on Easy Street at Ski Apache Saturday, December 19th from 3-5 p.m., with viewing and judging taking place from 1-3 p.m. Entry cost is only $300 per team and is limited to a field of 30 teams on a first come, first served policy. To enter your team please call (575) 464-3600, and we will sign you team up. Rules: No explosives or propellants. No living organisms of any kind. Dummy must be between 3' and 7' in height, no more than 4 feet wide, and less than 300 pounds. Come up to Ski Apache on December 19th to witness a Ski Apache tradition. The 4th annual tourchlight parade will commence at 6pm with skiers gliding down Capitan with torches in hand.
