Full review

Someday in the future, when they look back at our times to examine what went wrong, there will be no more succinct example than the Canadian mega-corporation (Fortress Investment Group) owned, Canadian resort octopus (IntraWest), in its New Jersey manifestation, namely, Mountain Creek. Democracy, re-tooled from govt. of and for the people, to people of and for big business? Monopoly operating with impunity, under cover of in-name-only competition? Swarms of citizens herded, like overgrown, bi-pedal vermin with wallets, into whatever lines, crapeterias, etc are quite convenient for the "company" - that's if they manage to drag themselves up from deep and distant parking pits? Yes folks, all this and more, and conveniently located too, is George Orwell's.....er, I mean, Mountain Creek! A number of other reviews have bemoaned the crowds, the kid boarders, the snowmaking, the lifts. But is it the crowds? or that 2 out of 6 ticket windows, or rental stations, are manned, while a jolly crew of disinterested Creek employees is busy laughing it up in the back? Is it the boarders? or Creek's complete lack of concern for the fewer, less revenue producing, "complainers?" Is it the snowmaking capacity? or the fact that they'll only use it if dirt would be showing otherwise? Is it the lifts? Well yeah, some of them. The Vernon triple and Sojourn double (yes, DOUBLE - mind you, the only way from the South peak to the rest of the hill) both push the legal limit for confinement time without food and water. Year after year, no upgrade. But that's not the worst of it. Nor are the $2.50 M&Ms - which, surely, would be enough, but you're not forced to buy them. Yet. How about if you bought a few Triple Play cards (3 tix at a discount, buy no later than December, non-transferable), and then 1/2 the hill was closed until mid February - no refunds, no breaks? And how about if they then open the rest of the place, but restrict an entire peak to season pass holders? - ie, YOU pay for Mountain Creek to try and mollify those who paid hundreds for nothing. And then, when there's finally some decent snow, tail end of February (today), for only the second time all season, you discover, on the net, just before leaving the house, that an entire section of the mountain will only be open at night, and that all ways between it and the rest of the hill will be closed FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK, until the abovementioned hoards descend, on the weekend?! Is THAT why you bought your pass? If this kind of treatment is tolerable to you, or the convenience of the location is worth your dignity - and their whole egregious business model is based on their certainty of it - then Mountain Crock...I mean Creek... awaits you. I hereby bequeeth to you the modicum of space I purchased but will NOT be using. I would like to hear from anyone who would consider participating in legal action against these arrogant bastards.
