mountain creek is a ski resort in new jersey, what did you people expect? sure it doesn't snow much here but they do a great job making snow although it can be icy at times. trails took long to open last year due to the fact that the weather would not cooperate with optimal snowmaking conditions. this year however, creek plans to have most of the mountain open by the set opening day, december 8th. snowboarders flock to mountain creek for the terrain parks, which happen to be some of the best on the east coast. even new-school skiiers, like myself, happen to enjoy the parks. action has been taken this year to address the problems of keeping novice boarders and skiiers out of parks and on the bunny trails. a park pass is required to ride in the parks (and supposedly you need to sit in a safety class now.) while the addition of the south peak terrain park may have taken away some trails, it still helps to keep snowboarders off of north and granite peaks, which offer some good terrain. as for lift tickets, all i have to say is that they're cheaper than ones at hunter or windham in ny. a season pass can actually be bought early in the season for as little as $150, so i don't know where that kid came up with $600, it's absolutely false. i've had a season pass for the last five years, and if i go to creek about 6 or 7 times, it pays itself off. season pass holders also get exclusive hours on the mountain, they can start skiing at 8am instead of 9am. lines for the lifts can be somewhat of a hassle around midday, however if you're a smart skiier or boarder you know to get to the mountain early anyways, because that's when you'll find the best snow and less crowds. i'm usually done skiing for the day by 1 o'clock.
